Testimonials

Renzo - July 2021
"Sited on an magnificent property, this AirBnB is a great way to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life without losing the comforts of civilization. There is no power or Wifi by the tents, but there is WiFi a short walk to another part of the property. You are able to drive your car right up to the tent, so loading/unloading was very easy. The outdoor kitchen is great for preparing any stove-top meal and the shower (which is in between rocks and open to the sky) is very nice. The description of the stay matched our expectations and we couldn’t have been happier. Thank you Darien and Ryan!"

Alex - June 2021
"Incredible location for friends and family. Brought some kid cousins out here to explore. They loved the trailers, yurts, outdoor showers. Really comfortable place with everything you need for a weekend outdoors. Already planning next visit"

Lauren - May 2021
"10/10 recommend this stay, it was absolutely incredible! The pictures do not do it justice - the place was immaculate, so much room to run around and explore freely. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean, the little details in every corner made it even more adorable/special. The hosts were super sweet and helpful. Although they live in the main house on the property the stay felt very private. I can honestly say two days was not enough time to explore and enjoy the entire property. We're already talking about the next time we can go back!"

John - May 2021
"We were a group of 10, five couples. We had a 2 night stay which was great. A unique and fun place to stay. Would happily stay again and recommend easily to the right crowd. Everything was as described and Eric a very efficient host."

Sydney - April 2021
"My friends and I were in awe the entire time. Such a beautiful, fun spot! We would definitely go back."

Shyam - April 2021
"Fantastic experience! Easily one of the coolest airbnb's that our entire group of 12 have ever stayed at. We are definitely planning on coming back!"

Lynn - April 2021
"If you're looking to go off the grid, this is the place for you. Ryan and Darrien are amazing. Reactive, friendly, accommodating and most importantly they give off a great vibe. We hired Ryan for a guided hike to some nearby petroglyphs and it exceeded our expectations, to be honest. I highly recommend this.
On our departure day we hired Darrien for a morning yoga session that she led beautifully from the patio of her home, which is on the property. It was the perfect way to end our perfect mini spring break.
I recommend bringing warm blankets for snuggling around the fire (any one of about 5 on the property) because it gets colder and windier than you might expect. Also note that the two tents that are on the property are located a pretty good distance from the air streams. This was no problem for us at all, in fact a bonus, but we didn't expect them to be quite as far away as they were."

Lauren - March 2021
"Awesome space! Great for a group so you can all be spread out and have space but also great communal spaces to enjoy. Beautiful location and not a far drive from Joshua Tree!"

Minnie - March 2021
"Our group had the best time here. There is nothing better than spending cold desert nights by a blazing campfire under the bright starry night sky, music blaring, friends and family all singing & laughing. We made some amazing memories for sure. Also, the photos of this place do not do it justice. The views are pretty outstanding, especially by the small airstream and      the safari tents. We had everything we needed to cook all our meals here. The kitchenette is pretty stocked with pots & pans & utensils. We did some hiking & exploring during the day just around the property, which our dogs were so very happy to have so much space to explore. If you have a small dog, keep an eye out because we did see coyotes. We stayed for the weekend and literally had no reason to leave except to go to the grocery store once. There is so much to do and explore here and all the amenities are provided. Both bathrooms are extremely clean and have hot water. I highly recommend booking this space if you are looking for an elevated luxury camping adventure! Can’t wait to come back! Ps. The hosts are top notch, so nice and just the cutest. Communicating was super easy and they extended our check out, which we really appreciated."

Elizabeth - February 2021
"Such a beautiful location. We had a lot of fun hiking in the mornings and watching the sunrise. Such a great experience. I would definitely recommend."

Leatt - January 2021
"This place is a playground! It's amazing to have so much space to wander and explore. The amenities are just as fun- from campfires to hikes we didn't want to leave! The sleeping spaces are thoughtful and cozy, and the whole vibe was freeing. Thanks for the beautiful weekend."

Stephanie - January 2021
"This place is amazing! I highly recommend!!"

"This is our second visit here. We delivered our “will return” statement from our first review.

This time was still so much fun! We now have experienced both summer and winter at the Aerie. Both are equally beautiful and very enjoyable. There’s 40 acres to explore and take in  - walk, hike, run, paddle, relax, meditate, pray, stargaze.

Our family of 7 had plenty of room to spread ourselves. We used the barn, airstreams, and tents. All of the spaces have their charms. The artist barn has the king bed, kitchen. One airstream has the fireplace outside - we hang out here for the s’mores and this airstream has the easiest to access to the bathroom. The second airstream has the grill outside and an expansive view of the Aerie. It’s so beautiful to drink coffee here watching the day unfold or have wine or bourbon welcoming the night sky. For me, the tents are most unique experience because you are immersed to some degree - the desert wilderness. We feel a little intrusive to the habitats and activities of the animals. We stay out of their way and they are fun to watch. There is a wood stove oven that keeps you warm even in 30 degree nights. There’s a short walk to an outside toilet and hot shower. From the tents, it’s absolutely amazing to look at the stars at night or watch the sunrise peak over the boulders.

Eric, Lori, Ryan, Darrien, and Sage are so warm and welcoming. They are easy to approach and responsive. Their kindness certainly made our stay great.

We left the Aerie, just like last time, overjoyed to be with loved ones. I believe there’s also a little magic in our hearts we each take back to the our daily lives."

Cody - January 2021
"We had a great time exploring the rocks around the property!"

Jane - December 2020
"A very special and inspiring property! This place puts you right in the desert like camping would, but with the privacy of your own place, comfy beds, running water and nice places to sit! The best of both worlds.

Ryan was very responsive to our questions. We look forward to returning!"

Harriet - December 2020
"Delightful, a place for discovery, beauty, unique among destinations, a great, expansive, outdoor desert setting to explore.  Envigorating in winter, a gem."

Amelia - December 2020
"book this spot if you can!!! we had a wonderful and memorable weekend at this special place. Easily fits 10 people and is an absolute blast to explore the property."

David - November 2020
"If you want a place to get off the grid and be one with nature it is fantastic.  Took my family out there .  Kids had a blast piling rocks exploring land hiking  campfires s’mores stargazing with no one around to tell them to be quiet  .  My phone didn’t work (WiFi did) which is what I wanted .  It is “glamping” I.e. not quite camping but not quite a hotel or house either.  All Amenities as advertised and what was understated was how beautiful and spiritual the place felt.

Would go back."

"What a find! Eric has created a magical desert get away. We spent 48 hours of perfect isolation during the Pandemic on 40 acres all to ourselves! 4 teens and a dog (and an Eagle Scout husband!) were in heaven adventuring, climbing, trailing and just loving the freedom and the wild of the desert. For those that love camping but don't want the fuss of packing all the gear, this is your nirvana.  2 well appointed comfortable airstreams (super comfy beds) and 2 tents meant space for everyone. The art barn is set up with all that you need for cooking and hanging out. The bathroom facilities are fantastic - don't be put off by the outside shower. In the winter, enjoy the wonderfully hot shower and watch sunset over the mountains at the same time!  So many creative pockets to explore - the bar area and little water stretch for paddleboarding looked amazing but a little too cold to enjoy on this trip. We were there mid Nov and it was chilly. You need blankets (which they provide plenty of) and fires (so many firepits to chose from) to enjoy the cold desert evening. The airstreams have heaters which took the edge off the cold and the beds were snug.  It was the perfect temperature to explore the desert and let the dog explore without fear of rattlers.  We met Eric and his wife  - both charming and relaxed - and Ryan and Derrin were so responsive to any questions. We took the sunset guided hike to the petroglyphs with Ryan and it was a definite highlight.  We are already planning a return visit in the spring to try it in the heat! 100% recommend."

Phillippe - November 2020
"Great property with so much character. Eric was extremely responsive and helped us with everything we needed. Would definitely stay again."

Martin - November 2020
"I can’t say enough on how beautiful this property is.  Spectacular views, amazing night sky, and pure peaceful quiet.  Our group could not have enjoyed ourselves more.  The hosts were so welcoming and helpful.  Their responsiveness was impeccable.  We were amazed at the owner’s imaginative and tasteful improvements which was a full outdoor experience immersed in nature with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay.  We will definitely be coming back to decompress from our LA lives.   Thank you!!!"

Leonardo - November 2020
"the place is just magical. it was even better than I thought it would be. will be back for sure!"

Leyya - October 2020
"Le Haute Desert Aerie is a truly special place. This land vibrates with goodness!  Eric, Lori, Darrien and Ryan are responsive, enthusiastic hosts - they have created an amazing site for gathering.  We can't wait to return!"

Khoa - October 2020
"I've been coming to the Aerie for the last 7 years. Truly a magical off beaten oasis nestled in the middle nowhere. Words can hardly describe this healing sanctuary of boulders and otherworldly landscapes. So grateful to Eric, Lori, Ryan and Darrien for providing a safe and beautiful experience."

Adrienne - October 2020
"Not enough ways to describe this magical place. The accommodations and amenities were prefect for a birthday getaway and details and directions were very clear in a place easy to (and a place you want to) get lost in. Can’t wait to come back and do some more exploring."

Bri - September 2020
"This place is beyond expectations and is so incredibly gorgeous. You won’t run out of things to do on this 40 acre property. The hosts are so accommodating, the sleeping areas were super clean, and the views were beautiful. We had such a great time and are definitely coming back!"

Vivian - September 2020
"This place is amazing, much better than we expected. All the property was for us, so we didn’t have to worry about being loud. All views are so peaceful and relaxing! Definitely, we’ll visit again!"

Brianna - September 2020
"What an incredible getaway! Eric and Lori are extremely kind and very generous hosts. They will give you everything you need and have great travel tips for the surrounding area. The photos do not do this place justice; the landscape is beautiful and the views are stunning. We arrived during a heat wave (105-110 F) which was a little tough during the day, but the air streams have great AC and the outdoor showers helped us cool off. If you are coming to this place in warmer months, I recommend bringing an air mattress to accommodate 3-4 people in each airstream since the tents are too hot to sleep in. There was a breeze that would come and go during the day, and the nights were still warm. The photos do not show the little pond near the tents that you can go paddle boarding in. The hot tub is an amazing feature to end your nights while stargazing. Make sure you wake up early enough and walk up to a high point to watch the sunrise and sunsets! We will definitely be coming back:)"

Isaiah - August 2020
"My friends and I decided to go to the desert during California's heat wave and thought we had made a mistake until we arrived at Eric and Lori's desert oasis. This place is a gem, pictures don't do it justice or probably ever could. The heat was never an issue because of a cool breeze that would flow over the mountains and if anyone was ever too hot we would just go down to the spring fed pond which was a 5 minute walk. Our whole crew would agree that the pond was their favorite as it served as a private getaway spot to relax with a couple drinks on the paddle boards. The property itself where we all slept and hung out consisted of two airstreamers with above par AC, an art barn with creative paintings, and a couple safari tents which sat a good distance away from everything else. We had everything we needed and then some. Now, I want to give a shout out to the owners because they were some of the nicest and most genuine humans I've met... Eric immediately greeted us and gave us the full tour of the area. He and Lori made sure we had everything we needed. They bring a warm aura that makes you feel incredibly welcomed. I can't brag enough about this place and writing this now is pushing me to set up my next trip back."

Ann - August 2020
"This is a extraordinary, hand-made  property! Please be aware, it is on the rustic side- you will be very close to nature while there. It is truly a wonderful, off-the-grid experience. The hosts are great. Bring lots of water!"

Leila - August 2020
"We had an unbelievably great experience! The love starts driving into the Aerie where the colors, openness, and life of the desert welcomes you. It feels like a being in isolation but the comfortable, and peaceful kind. Julia, Eric, and Lori welcomed us upon arrival and were all very kind and accommodating. It’s a gorgeous set up and perfect for 7 humans + 1 dogo. There is plenty of room for 10 people and still have their own privacy. The tent accommodation was our favorite because of the nice breeze, the sounds of nature at night, and of course seeing the moon and stars.
The Airstreams have AC available. The barn is large, full of artwork, and has the small kitchen. Each place has its own unique, very special feel. The only thing we missed was paddle boarding on the pond! At the Aerie we hiked, cooked, barbecued, dipped into the cooling pool, explored the different art work around, had a teeny-mini edc dance, watched birds and desert animals, stargaze, and visited the monastery on top of the hill. We all left with so much gratitude in our hearts and fun memories."

Jakob - August 2020
"An incredible deal. 40 acres of beautiful desert with four (soon to be five) fully equipped living quarters and tons of extra room to camp if you’re feeling an inclination towards your rustic roots. The lake is  great for paddle boarding or just floating around, basking in the sun (so long as you don’t mind the occasional excited fish hopping on/over you). The hosts were all wonderful. Eric and Laurie, the property owners and residents on the ranch were incredibly hospitable and their dog, Sage, was so sweet and very, very excited to meet my girlfriend and I. Julia, the Airbnb manager was great and helped us through a few kinks in our navigation on the way to the property, and she and the groundskeeper Taylor both met us at the property upon arrival to ensure we got our proper bearings. All in all it was an incredible trip and we’re already planning our return in the fall!"

Janice - July 2020
"Beautiful view, awesome campground, fun sleeping spaces. A unique experience overall!"

Julen - July 2020
"This place is awesome! It surpassed all of our expectations and made for an excellent getaway and incredible trip! The vast desert views, beautiful sunsets and night sky along with the serene, quiet soundscape made for a much needed escape and essential grounding! If you have an affinity for nature and enjoy being immersed in awe-inspiring surroundings, you should definitely consider visiting! It's great for going with a group of people and still manage to safely socialize at a distance. Not to mention it's full of art sprinkled all throughout, and the actual living spaces are super funky and tasteful! Eric, Julia and Lori were very welcoming and attentive hosts. Whenever we needed something, they were quick to respond and provide solutions. We all had an amazing time and are definitely thinking on coming back!"

Brian - July 2020
"Skip the 3 hour line to get into the park and live in your own Joshua Tree paradise! Hosts are friendly, and kitchen was well stocked. Air conditioning in the airstream is clutch in the summer. Perfect glamping / social distancing getaway!"

Vikki - June 2020
"This is a truly magical place. I could not have imagined a more perfect place to celebrate my 40th. Eric and Laurie were incredibly kind and welcoming - and even let us join them for a group meditation before we headed back to LA.

The sleeping spaces in the tents, airstream and art barn were clean and comfortable and so nicely decorated. We went in the summer, so everything warms up pretty quickly - but it’s the desert so, to be expected.

The lake [was] perfectly refreshing on hot afternoons and we spent the evenings cooking, watching the incredible sunsets and stars.

There is a cooking area at the artbarn and airstream (BBQ) with a large terrace overlooking the space and also one down by the tents on the other side of the property. It was fun to switch up where we cooked and spent the evening hanging out.

So much to do and see here including a hike to the monastery Eric built on the little mountain behind their home and many others all over the property. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a spriritual or retreat / getaway experience. Oh, and the outdoor boulder shower by the nomad tents is sooooo nice! It will make you never want to shower indoors again ❤️"

Daldia - June 2020
"We took our family for a weekend getaway and it was beautiful. Being away from the city and seeing the breath taking views from the top of the mountains was unrealistic. The silence really helped with destressing and provided an escape from our daily routine. Eric was a great host and came by to introduce himself and his lovely dog Sage. The sleeping arrangements varied from staying indoor an airstream to being out in a high end tent experience. The hot tub provided wonderful views of the mountain and you can relax to the sound of nature. Would definitely recommend this location for anyone trying to have an escape. Overall great experience!"

Charlotte - March 2020
"Eric and his partner were great - even going out of their way to direct us on an activity by letting us follow him in his car! A really lovely place to stay and get away."

Jacqueline - February 2020
"Eric’s home is a beautiful, spiritual, and artistic oasis in the desert. It’s also super close to Pappy & Harriet’s! So if you’re there for a show- check out this place. The house comes stocked and is super cozy. The desert can drop to 30 degrees outside in the evening, so don’t forget to turn on the space heater when you arrive if staying in the art barn or airstream. Eric and Julia were great answering questions promptly. Arrive while it’s still daylight to get a proper tour and lay of the land. Great hosts and property!"

Mia - January 2020
"The home is exquisite and the 40 acre property has so many fun spots to hang in. There are a few yurts, air streams, and art barn for guest to stay outside of the main house. I would love to come back in the spring so I can use the outside amenities more. The hosts were also very nice and held a spiritual gathering in the most special spot of the house 1 night. Overall, we had a really special time and I hope to go back!"

Nicole - January 2020
"This space is insane! Every single thing in this house has a personal touch to it. Wonderfully unique with so much to do that our group is already planning our summer trip! Eric was extremely cool. We were kind of nervous to have someone who may be in the house but the second you meet him (if you meet him) you feel immediately at ease. He isn’t intrusive but so kind and gentle. After seeing the work he put into the house and all the art that he did himself all throughout you have to meet the man behind the work! There isn’t a place you can go on the property that doesn’t have a view. The hiking is great. The only this that was hard was deciding what space to have your morning coffee because there was so many good spots to choose from. Ohh also, the cat is too cool for school. ❤️"

Michael - December 2019
"This place was a fairytale. Our group of 11 was comfortable and had a blast. Great amenities and gracious host. Going back for sure."

Thom - August 2020
"Amazing place!!! Lori & Eric are the best. We stayed for a weekend and had a great time. Will definitely go back again."
